On-site data destruction
With on-site data destruction you have hard drives, SSDs and other data carriers destroyed on your own premises, without them ever leaving the building. That removes every risk of a data breach during transport and gives you immediate, demonstrable GDPR compliance.
Why on-site data destruction?
The weakest moment in the disposal of old IT hardware is the transport. Between your office and the processor, sensitive data travels along, and privacy officers, audit committees and management rightly worry about that. On-site data destruction switches that risk off entirely. Your equipment is erased or physically destroyed on your own premises, with you or a designated colleague present.
This approach is particularly relevant for healthcare institutions, government bodies, banks, schools and companies with strict compliance requirements such as ISO 27001. For them, a watertight audit trail is not a wish but an obligation.
On-site data destruction in 2 ways
Which method suits you depends on your goal. Do you want to destroy your hardware permanently, or do you want it to be usable again afterwards?
Shredding on site. Our mobile shredder processes data carriers into unreadable particles, in line with the strict DIN66399-H5 standard. Suitable for hard drives, SSDs, tapes, phones and USB sticks. Irreversible, and the most chosen method for the most sensitive data.
Wiping (software-based erasure). With certified Certus software we erase your data carriers down to bit level. The hardware remains fully usable afterwards and suitable for refurbishment or reuse. An attractive choice if, alongside data security, you also pursue sustainability targets or want to recover residual value from your equipment. If the equipment is reused, you can choose to donate the proceeds to the Sophia Children’s Hospital. Whale Recycling adds 10% on top.
With both methods you immediately receive an official certificate of destruction, suitable for audits, ESG reporting and internal records.
How does on-site data destruction work?
The process is deliberately simple, because you already have enough on your plate.
- Our specialist arrives at your location at the agreed time, with the right equipment (mobile shredder or wiping software).
- We register and check the supplied data carriers one by one.
- You or your colleague watches the entire process live. Nothing happens out of sight.
- Afterwards you receive the certificate of destruction with a full overview of the media handled.
We also arrange the collection containers, the transport and the accompanying documentation. Pre-sorting and paperwork are not things you have to pick up yourself.
From how many data carriers is on-site data destruction possible?
For a long time, on-site data destruction was only viable at high volumes. With our expanded capacity we can now deploy the mobile shredder efficiently for smaller quantities too. That has put on-site shredding within reach for many more organisations.
Do you have a specific number in mind? Request a no-obligation quote. We will look together at which method and schedule suit your situation, whether it involves 50 or 5,000 data carriers.
What does on-site data destruction cost?
The price depends on the number and type of data carriers, the chosen method and any additional requirements around reporting or certification. You only pay for what we actually destroy, with no hidden costs. Request a no-obligation quote for a clear, tailored cost overview.
