1. Free valuation
Of course, you want to know how much your old business laptops are worth. So, send us as much information as possible via a list or a clear description with some photos.
2. Pickup service
If our offer is to your liking, we’ll immediately schedule an appointment to pick up your old laptops. We’ll also provide packaging materials to safely transport the laptops.
3. Data wiping
When your old laptops arrive at our location, they are first checked and completely data-wiped using certified software from Certus Software.
4. Report and destruction certificate
You will always receive a clear overview of the laptops you submitted, and certified data destruction with a report is always included at Whale IT Recycling.
5. Quick payment
You will receive our purchase invoice detailing what we agreed upon. We’ll transfer the payment within a few days.
Your privacy, our priority
Your old business laptops may still contain sensitive company data or personal information from employees. That’s why certified data destruction is always included in our buyback process. Beyond securely wiping the hard drive, we also remove any company-related information, such as stickers with names, asset tags, or logos. When your old laptop gets a second life, we guarantee it will be fully anonymous and free of any identifiable traces.
Do you prefer the hard drive to be shredded?
While wiping a hard drive is a reliable method for data destruction, some of our customers prefer the complete shredding of the hard drive. In the same secure area where hard drives are wiped, we also have our own shredder, specifically designed for destroying hard drives. Our shredder reduces hard drives to particles as small as 9 to 11 millimeters. This meets the H5 security class from DIN66399, which is suitable for companies such as banks or hospitals. In this class, it is impossible to recover data, even with expensive, high-end laboratory techniques. Since a laptop doesn’t work without a hard drive, we must replace it with a hard drive from our stock. Keep in mind, this may result in a lower buyback price for your old laptops.
Certified wiping software
For wiping hard drives, we use certified software from Certus Erasure. This software ensures 100% data destruction. Additionally, the software verifies whether the process was successful, and generates a detailed ‘Data Erasure Report’. This gives you the peace of mind that your data has been completely GDPR-compliant.

Don’t let laptops gather dust
We often see that businesses wait too long to sell their old laptops. This is unfortunate because their value decreases rapidly. Here are some guidelines regarding the value of old laptops:
- Age 1 to 3 years: The laptops are very young and almost always suitable for reuse. The residual value is relatively high.
- Age 3 to 8 years: The laptops are still relatively young but their value has dropped considerably. Reuse is almost always possible.
- Older than 8 years: The laptops are now quite old. In many cases, reuse is still possible, but the residual value is much lower. Laptops with a low purchase price are often no longer of interest.
